Well folks, we’re ready to kick off our first Mock/Practice Race on May 23rd, 2024, with District Racing for the 2024 season to follow on May 30th, 2024!
Mock/Practice race is for any clubs/racers in SK, plus anyone out of province with a UCI licence. It’s a mock/practice race to ease into the season and get everyone used to how Globe BMX runs their races, plus let’s anyone new experience it all with a little less pressure. No points or placings are tallied into any seasonal points (Club or District). It’s just for fun and everyone is welcome 🙂
District racing means that our club racers, plus members from other SK BMX (and any out of procince racers if they’d like, although they won’t collect points) clubs can attend and race all together! At the end of the season, A Male & Female District Winner for the 20″ and 24″ Categories is crowned by the Saskatchewan Cycling Association. District racing will start on May 30th, 2024 at Globe BMX.
There are plenty of items to take note of to ensure a smooth and efficient race for everyone – so hunker down and read this whole post please!

ELIGIBILITY & FORMAT
- If you have a Provincial Racing License through the Saskatchewan Cycling Association or a UCI License, you are eligible to race in a District race at Globe BMX, even if you are not a Globe BMX Club member. ONLY the Strider/4 & Under category can use the Cycling For All License.
- Riders in both the 20″ and 24″ Cruiser Class are eligible.
- Striders / Under 4 will race a modified format of 2 motos, everyone else will race the standard 3 moto format.
- All riders must register in advance using the online registration calendar embedded in the Race Registration section.
- While you’re on a roll – might as well check out our BMX 101 page to really get acquainted with BMX racing format and specifics: https://globebmx.com/bmx-101/
WHAT TO BRING
- Bike, full face helmet with visor in tact, proper race clothing, gloves and other race gear. A rider will not be allowed to race if their gear or bike is not in order, or if items are missing (example, you cannot race without gloves, or a helmet!)
- ALWAYS BRING YOUR LICENSE (photo on phone is fine) and have it ready at check in EVERY RACE. This isn’t our rule, this is an all clubs, all tracks, Saskatchewan Cycling/UCI rule for Commissaires to check licences every time. Rider class changes throughout the year.
- Race Plate (should stay on your bike) and new for 2024, SIDE PLATE. If you don’t have one yet, you’ll receive it at your first practice or race session once registered as a member.
- Small toolkit with side cutters, multi-tool, wrenches, hex/allen keys….whatever you might need to make sure you can adjust your gear as needed. Some even bring a tire pump which comes in useful! The Globe BMX track has an air compressor, but make sure you have a valve adapter if you have presta valves on your tubes (the skinny ones that need the Schraeder adapter).
- TAPE & SHARPIE – this is for writing down moto assignments/lanes for you or your rider
- Chairs if you want to sit down for spectating. Some bleachers are on site.
- Water & snacks
- Parking as usual will be in the Lakewood Civic Center lots.
