Updated January 2026
Globe BMX is a 100% volunteer-run club. Our practices, district races, and provincial events rely entirely on the support of volunteers. To ensure responsibilities are shared fairly, each family is expected to contribute volunteer time throughout the season. Volunteering not only helps the club operate smoothly, but also provides a great opportunity to learn more about the sport and connect with other club members. To support this commitment and ensure the ongoing success of Globe BMX, the Club has implemented a Volunteer Bond. This bond encourages participation and helps guarantee that sufficient volunteers are available for all club activities. Here’s how it all works…
HOW TO PAY YOUR BOND
To receive your (or your rider’s) racing plate(s)—required for both practice and racing—each family must submit a $200 bond at the Welcome Night/Open Track event, or you first attending event.
Payment Details
- Payment may be made by cheque (preferred) or cash
- $200 per family
- Bonds must be submitted to a board member at the registration table (specific board member to be confirmed)
Volunteer Commitment
Submitting your bond serves as a contractual agreement to complete 10 volunteer credits during the racing season.
- If all 10 credits are completed, your cheque will not be cashed
- If fewer than 10 credits are completed for any reason, the cheque will be cashed at the end of the season
- Funds from unfulfilled bonds are retained by the club
Important Notes
- No exceptions
- Credits are not prorated
- Completing fewer than 10 credits (e.g., 9) is considered incomplete
- All 10 volunteer credits are required
HOW TO EARN CREDITS
Our season runs from early May to mid-September, with over 20+ races or events to volunteer at, and over 10+ positions each event, practice or race night.
Here is a breakdown of how to earn credits:
Practice Volunteer = 1 credit
Race Night Volunteer Any non-commissaire position, with exception to lower staging = 1 credit
Race Night Volunteer Any commissaire position, first aid or lower staging position = 2 credits
Scheduled Track Maintenance = 2 credits
Special Event Volunteer* = 2 credits
*1 shift is usually around 2-4 hours of time. 2 credits for each shift worked. Special events include Fall Classic, SK Cups, Provincial Grands & Championships.
Total required = 10 credits per family
HOW ARE CREDITS TRACKED?
Volunteer credits will be tracked each time you sign up for a position on volunteersignup.org (our online volunteer platform) prior to a race night or event and then fulfill your assigned role.
This process ensures we have volunteers confirmed in advance for races and events, and that all volunteer participation and credits are tracked accurately.
CAN OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS OR FRIENDS VOLUNTEER ON MY FAMILY’S BEHALF?
Yes, absolutely! Grandparents, relatives, and friends are welcome to volunteer. All volunteer time earns credits—just be sure they indicate which family their credits should be applied to when signing the volunteer sheet.
WHAT IF OUR FAMILY EARNS MORE THAN 10 CREDITS?
We are incredibly grateful for all volunteer hours! If your family earns more than 10 credits, we’ll happily accept them. Extra hours will still be tracked for data and planning purposes so we can improve the program in future seasons—and of course, you’ll still get our thanks and plenty of high fives.
