COVID-19 Practice Session Booking & Protocols

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE PAGE AS THESE ARE ALL ITEMS THAT ARE NEW TO OUR REGULAR FORMAT!

The Globe BMX team has reviewed all policies and recommendations put forth by the Government of SK as well as the Saskatchewan Cycling Association. Below you will find detailed plans that outline our proposed practice format.

FORMAT OVERVIEW

  • No Coaching at this time, however that might be something we are able to incorporate for future practice dates
  • One practice session per week
  • Use of the start gate
  • For our July 2nd practice, a maximum of 30 people in attendance at each session including riders, volunteers and parents/spectators.
  • After July 2nd, all remaining Sunday practices will be 40 participants and 40 parent/guardians allowed
  • Riders will have to sign up for scheduled session times

SCHEDULE

The following schedule has been updated as of July 2nd, 2020. The first two practices will remain scheduled for Thursdays, then we’ll make the switch to Sundays as we have updated our racing plan.

TRACK SETUP

  • Only one Parent/guardian maximum can attend with a rider
  • Parent/guardians will each have a determined area for seating, rider water breaks, spectating
  • Parents/riders will need to wait in parking lot until session time begins
  • Parents/riders need to maintain distance from other riders/parents as they make their way to and from the track
  • Board members will be only ones to use, unload, load, setup and sanitize equipment
  • Board members will be the only volunteers
  • Race office/sea-can will remain closed except to board members
  • Sea-can will be sanitized after each practice night
  • Registration check in will be contactless and maintain distancing
  • Registration check in will be positioned so that as riders/parents arrive at entrance of the track, riders can be positioned for briefing and parents can be directed to spectator/gear area section.
  • Staging area will be marked so that riders know how to remain distanced and are able to funnel up to the starting gate while remaining 2m apart
  • Parents will be allowed to stand with rider if they need assistance and will be able to assist in the gate.
  • First Aid will have a standard kit with first aid supplies, that will also consist of gloves, mask and sanitizer.

SESSION TIMES – SUNDAYS BEGINNING JULY 5

After July 2nd practice, weekly practices will once again take place on Sundays at Globe BMX and will be by booking ONLY. No Walk-ons!

SUNDAY PRACTICE SESSION TIMES

2:23 pm – 3:22 pm: Session #1 – 45 mins, 40 Riders + 40 Parents/Guardians max
3:22 pm – 4:23 pm: Session #2 – 45 mins, 40 Riders + 40 Parents/Guardians max

If Thursday races are cancelled due to rain, we will proceed on Sundays as a rain out option, therefore eliminating that Sunday practice.

SESSION SIZE

  • For future Sunday practices (after July 2) maximum of 40 riders per session time + 1 parent per rider
  • 3 Board volunteers ONLY, including:
    • Check-in (Jen)
    • Gate operator/first aid (Dan)
    • Social distance enforcer & rider/parent organizer (Kyle)

SESSION SIGNUP

  • Only current Globe BMX 2020 members that also hold a valid SCA cycling licence will be able to attend practice sessions at this time.
  • No one-time use insurance waivers will be provided and no walk ons accepted
  • Session signup is at the bottom of this page and will be done through our Calendly integration
  • Once a session is booked, you will get a calendar invite as well as a text reminder about your sessions
  • You can book sessions in advance for times that work for you, up until 6 hours prior to the Thursday sessions each week
  • If you need to cancel, please do so in the email or calendar invite that you receive, you do not need to email us.
  • PLEASE cancel if you plan on not attending. It is not fair to keep a spot when others can utilize it
  • The booking times include your 7 minute arrival window and your 7 minute departure window. If you book 2:23, please be walking from your car in the parking lot to the track at 2:23.

COVID-19 SYMPTOMS – PRIOR, ONSITE AND POST ATTENDANCE (RIDERS, PARENTS & BOARD):

This will also be a question asked when booking a session
Anyone displaying symptoms will not be allowed to participate
All ride participants are asked to report if within 14 days of the ride they start showing signs of any illness or test positive for COVID-19

Prior to the session all must self assess for COVID-19 symptoms including:

  • Fever
  • Sore throat
  • Cough
  • Chills
  • Headache
  • Runny nose
  • Muscle and/or joint aches and pains
  • Nasal congestion

PARENTS, RIDERS & SOCIAL DISTANCING:

A parent or guardian (maximum of 1 per rider) must attend with rider to practice to ensure the following is adhered to:

  • That the rider understands and practices social distance protocols at the track
  • So that the parent can enforce social distancing with their rider
  • To be available to go onto track if rider falls and is injured or needs assistance prior to first aid. There will not be volunteers on track due to social distance protocols.
  • Riders must come ready to ride
  • Riders must bring all their own equipment and should also bring their own maintenance equipment (pump, spare tubes, tools) in the event of any mechanical issues
  • Hand Sanitization station will be available for parents and riders to use, however it is recommended that parents include gloves, mask and sanitizer in their gear bags
  • Riders must not share food or drink with other rider families
  • NO WASHROOMS ON SITE

GUIDELINES FROM GOVERNMENT OF SK FOR GENERAL OPERATION THAT WE USED TO DEVELOP EVERYTHING NOTED ON THIS PAGE:

  • Group size/team gatherings must adhere to the maximum gathering limits per the public health order.
  • At this time, teams are encouraged to train, practice and play/scrimmage within the team. Further information about competitions will be released in a future update to Re-Open Saskatchewan.
  • Tournaments and inter-provincial travel for games and competitions are prohibited
  • Where possible, physical distancing should be observed, with a minimum of two metres of space between individuals.
  • Areas where people naturally gather (e.g. team benches, bleachers) must be set up and used in a way that follows physical distancing requirements (i.e. only allow every other row in bleachers, use visual cues).
  • Pylons or other markers should be used to define the group space.
  • Schedules should be staggered to promote physical distancing and allow for adequate cleaning and disinfection between use.
  • Staff and participants should be given information on physicals distancing and other requirements prior to attending. Staff should discourage people gathering.
  • Signage must be posted to caution players about the risks of COVID-19.
  • Chewing tobacco, sunflower seeds, spitting, sharing beverage containers and other similar behaviours increase the risk of COVID-19 transmission and are not permitted.
  • Congratulatory gestures, such as high fives and handshakes, are not permitted.
  • Try to minimize cheering and whistling as much as possible to limit the spread of COVID-19.
  • Request minimal spectator attendance at events, and physical distancing must be maintained.
  • Trash containers must be emptied regularly – a minimum of once per day.
  • No fundraising (e.g. 50/50 or fundraising events) are permitted unless contactless methods can be used.
  • Members who are sick or symptomatic must not enter/participate. Participants, spectators and volunteers should use the Government of Saskatchewan’s online self-assessment tool to help determine if the illness may be COVID-19. The tool provides people with next steps depending on their responses.
  • Shared equipment must be cleaned and disinfected frequently.
  • Hand hygiene should be performed prior to play and contacting shared equipment through the duration of the activity, when possible (i.e. intermissions, breaks), as well as at the end of the activity.
  • Where possible, participants should supply their own equipment.
  • All frequently touched surfaces should be cleaned and disinfected prior to a new group being provided access to field space, including benches, dugouts, bleachers, railings, picnic areas, gates, etc.
  • Washrooms may be open, but increased cleaning and disinfection must take place. Hand washing facilities (soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer approved by Health Canada) must be provided.
  • Food and beverage services are permitted subject to the Restaurant and Licensed Establishments Guidelines.
  • Locker rooms must be closed. Players can change footwear in the parking lot.
  • Close drinking fountains. Water bottle filling stations are acceptable if appropriately and frequently sanitized. Participants must bring their own water bottles and not share with other participants.
  • Registration should be completed online whenever possible. However, if in-person registration is required, physical distancing and sanitizing pens between uses is required.
  • Contactless payment is preferred; however, cash may be accepted where necessary.
  • If a person becomes sick, they should immediately stop participating and return home
